Libraries strike in Southampton

Southampton librarians are going on strike over plans to replace 7 paid staff with volunteers and the closure of the Thornhill and Millbrook libraries.

With our own cutbacks coming, this could be a prediction of the future for Portsmouth libraries.

Good luck to everyone involved in the strike and if there are any Southampton readers of this blog then you can go to the pickets at the following librarys on friday and monday from 8:30am.

Libraries involved are: Central, Shirley, Portswood, Woolston and Bitterne.
