BAA strike at Southampton airport averted

The strike that was set for august bank holiday at Southampton and many other BAA run airports across the country has been averted.

Union leaders have come to a compromise with BAA over a pay deal and are recommending that the deal is accepted by the membership. Whether this is actually a decent deal or not is not known yet and details will be given after union members are balloted on the deal. It’s not likely to be decent though when you consider that high inflation is expected and BAA staff haven’t received an inflation based pay rise for two years.

So, it’s not over yet. Lets hope the BAA workers get what they want, not what the union tells them to want.
