Lib Dem rebellion

The Liberal Democrats are starting to feel the backlash from hopping in to bed with the Torys. Lib Dem MP for Portsmouth South, Mike Hancock, spoke out at the governments attacks on the poor by saying  ‘I didn’t get into politics to punish the poor, and that’s what’s happening under the coalition.’

He also decided not to attend the party conference and criticised the party by calling it a ‘dicatorship’ being run by the Lib Dem ministers rather than party members.

Well sorry Mike but that’s the way party politics works. As soon as there is some power to be had, all well-meaning ideology goes out the window and turns into a party controlled by the ruling elite rather than the members. Can’t have loyal party members cocking up their career opportunities because of some silly ideals!
