No interest in politics shocker!

Just two people voted in the citywide referendum over whether Portsmouth should have a voted in mayor.

200,00 people had a choice, either vote in a mayor who runs the city or vote in a party to run it.

And the results are in: 50% in favour and 50% against.

Council leader Gerald Vernon-Jackson had this to say on the subject, ‘Only two of 200,000 people replied. I’d say that means people aren’t interested in changing the system now’

I would disagree, I think it probably shows that people don’t think it would matter as people have so little power to influence desicions in the city either way. Why vote for a system change when they don’t represent any real change to everyday life?
