Lib-dem conference and Anarchy in Brighton.

Fucking Wessex Solidarity beat me too it again in writing a report, and for that i’m eternally gratefull! Well done to the Solent contingent for getting over there!  Here’s the Wessex report…..

The start of this year’s Libdem conference was met by a noisy march and demo called by Brighton Stop the Cuts and the local Trades Council. Speeches followed, the final one being given by a member of theSolidarity Federation who called on those present to join us in shutting down workfare in Brighton. For the rest of the afternoon, the centre of town was dominated by anarchists, their friends and comrades. Red and black flags and banners were ubiquitous the length of London road as members of SF locals Brighton, Bristol, Croydon, North London, Solent, South London and Thames Valley picketed workfare parasites and handed out thousands of leaflets to the staff and shoppers.
Two branches of Poundland were picketed along with Argos, Costa’s Coffee, Primark, and Superdrug. We were also graced with a visit fromBrighton’s lonely fascist photographer who fucked off after a group of anarchists decided to picket him.

…..Please take a look at the fascist photographer, do you recognise him? Like most fascists he looks like the kind of guy who pays for sex and he splits pretty fucking quickly when confronted.  Also if anyone knows why the far-right are in favour of the governments workfare program please get in touch to explain, are they happy to work for £1.50 an hour in poundland???

Griffin Bottles it in Fareham

As reported further down the blog, Margaret Walker, an insane old lady from Stubbington is getting done for harassment after sending hundreds of messed up poison pen letters (and getting caught). Some of the letters targeted Marks and Spencers, as it is owned by a Jewish person!! In a pamphlet she has written about a missing school girl from Blackpool,  Walker claims the girl was kidnapped and killed by Muslims and then put on a kebab skewer and sold to revelers for their late night munchies (you really can’t make this shit up!)

Some of walkers handy work – Anyone for kebabs??

Friday saw her appear at Fareham magistrates court to answer the charges after she was given an interim asbo the other week. Unfortuanatley for Fareham the far-right have tried to capitalise on the case and rallied around the infirm old witch to try and drum up a bit of support. BNP furher Nick Griffin was tweeting about a flash demo outside the court to support Walker, and with the prospect of a load of overweight boot boys rolling into town with the big boss in tow anti fascists issued a last minuet call out to meet and greet the racist scumbags. You would have thought that even the BNP would distance themselves from this kind of insanity but instead they are pretending that they like freedom of speech and are standing up for Walkers right to harass people. Last time i thought about it harassment is not the same as free speech.

In the end Griffin failed to show. The fascists and the anti-fascists had about 20 supporters each. The fascists were surprisingly quiet as the counter demo started to mock them, one anti-fascist had their details taken by the police after attempting to stop a BNP member from filming the antifa’s but no arrests were made, a little local crackhead who was hanging around with the fascists had his bag searched and had a pair of scissors removed, no arts and crafts time for him this weekend! The police then tried to seperate the two groups to each side of the court building. The BNP supporters dutifully obeyed and slunk off to stand in the corner looking a bit crest fallen. The Anti fascists were a bit more committed to their cause and refused to move, the cops did not push the matter and went over the road to start ‘intelligence’ gathering.

The group of  BNP claimed to be from a group called ProFam – I don’t really get what it is other than a friendly face for the same old scumbags. Four of the blokes were proper old fascists with the bomber jackets, jackboots and belly’s, they had the look but lacked the bottle when confronted. Once they got back to the safety of their car, just after they had complained to the police that they had to walk past us, they drove past giving Nazi salutes – good one boys, I’m not sure even Ms Walker would agree with that!! Apart from the 3 or 4 gaunt looking local crack heads* the BNP seemed to have traveled from far and wide with the exception of a Gosport member with a game leg and a middle aged guy with a shit hair cut who drinks in the Fareham…. on his own. The counter demo was made up exclusively of local anti fascists not wanting to give the racists a free ride in their back yard.

Casuals United had also put a call out for the demo but they appeared to attracted one lone supporter, again a guy well past his prime, sporting a ridiculous jumper that said ‘peaceful hooligan’, cool!

In the end the two demo’s were fairly mild mannered. Walker had her asbo extended and the case was adjourned until September as she admitted sending the letters but denied causing harassment. She said that she was angry and on her own at the time but now she has the support of the BNP she is better and knows not to send the letters, presumably they have taught her to be a proper racist. It seems like they have put in a lot of work to win one vote, in a constituency where they do not stand.

When Walker emerged from court the Fascists gave her 3 cheers as the anti-fascists jeered. The foot soldiers then assumed the role of burly protectors and escorted her up the road followed by the police, as if anyone would have had a pop at an old lady, no matter how nuts she is.

The Local press were there to report on the trial and that can be read here: The News

profam /BNP big stupid head page: Nazi Wank

Southeast BNP: Cunts

Anti-fascist press release: Whilst most normal people would agree that what Margaret Walker has done is wrong, it is the duty of the court to sentence her accordingly. Far right groups have rallied around Walker in an attempt to gain publicity for their own extremist ideas. We do not believe that racist and fascist thugs like you have seen outside the court today should be able to spread their hate in Fareham, or anywhere else for that matter, without opposition.  They have tried to claim that Walker is having her freedom of speech curtailed. We do not think harassment is covered by freedom of speech, it’s a crime. Racist parties like the BNP often try to hide behind free speech, but we know all to well that the only free speech they want is their own, and they would be quick to silence opposition given the chance. Luckily fascist thugs will always be opposed in the UK, and Fareham is no exception.

On the whole it was a decent turn out at a days notice, nice one to all those who turned out against the nasty nazi pricks!

*Not just stereo typing here – confirmed crack heads – but they were really young so lets hope they get a grip and sort it out, maybe then they can start pointing the finger at the real enemy of the working class, rather than the scapegoats chosen for us by the elite.

EDL in Bristol – what was that all about then?

police tell protester to remove mask

This is a re-post from Wessex Solidarity – interesting.

“No government fights fascism to destroy it. When the bourgeoisie sees that power is slipping out of its hands, it brings up fascism to hold onto their privileges.” – Buenaventura Durruti

The people of Bristol in all their diversity are well known for standing up for themselves; it’s hard to imagine a less auspicious location for a fascist rally, except Brighton maybe, and we all know what happened there. So to show who’s boss the state decides to force a fascist march into a city that doesn’t want it by hook or by crook. To add insult to injury, Bristol citizens will have to pay half a million quid for the privilege.

According to A&S Constabulary “it is the opposition to the EDL including
left-wing extremists that is most likely to cause trouble” – in that case I can report that there are an awful lot of ‘left-wing extremists’ in Bristol.

After some token chest-bumping with the authorities, the statist left and reformist unions made a last minute deal with the police which had most of the opposition – which would have outnumbered the fash ten to one, penned into castle park. Now most of us don’t care for being kettled, but if your plan for the day is preaching to the choir or selling newspapers no one would ordinarily read, it’s a gift. So the lines are drawn for the forthcoming conflagration.

This was nothing more or less than a demonstration of state power; the 200 or so fascist buffoons were no more than props in the charade. They were bussed in, or forced through counter-demonstrators behind horse charges, then led a few hundred yards through cordoned-off streets, past closed shops and cafes, into a specially constructed steel pen where they could safely masturbate and throw faeces. Across the serried ranks of Babylon we could barely hear the monkey noises. They were then marched out again, through angry crowds and burning barricades, the stragglers being allowed to drink themselves to incontinence under the watchful eye of riot cops sworn to protect them from the locals. All this at a cost of at least 2 grand per fascist; It’s as if the government had a fleet of B52s drop tons of horseshit on the heads of Bristol’s inhabitants, an EDL demo was the next best thing.

The bourgeoisie are not remotely afraid of having these clowns running loose in the community; far more threatening are the growing number of militant anti-fascists who doggedly turn out to oppose them. Anyone who refuses to be intimidated is surely a threat to any futile attempts to resuscitate the recently deceased capitalist system. So the police are given free training in crowd control at virtually no risk to themselves while their masters wait for Britain to follow Greece and Spain into chaos.

This is a personal analysis and does not represent the position of any organisation or group.

So, Vice Magazine has been in touch with their write up about Bristol at the weekend. What with me not being cool, young, or ‘hip to the jive daddy-oh’,  I don’t have a clue what Vice Magazine is, or what their politics are, but this is a pretty funny write up and it saves us having to bother with our own version!! (I have taken the videos out of the article as they didn’t work – that’s why it doesn’t make sense!)  Also see Anti-Fascist Network if interested! Cheers!

By Simon Childs, Photos and Video: Henry Langston

This summer may have been a washout so far, but the English Defence League didn’t need their St George’s flags to keep them cosy when they battled with anti-fascists and riot police in drizzly Bristol this weekend.

For those who haven’t been paying attention, the EDL is a group that seems to sincerely believe that Britain is under imminent threat of being taken over by fundamentalist Muslims. Ignoring the hundreds of years of evidence which suggests that Britain is run by a cabal of rich, white, Christian men, the EDL have set about nipping this imaginary problem in the bud by marching drunk into towns and cities and slurring their inarticulate rage at the local Islamic population.

Which would be kind of cute, except the EDL’s members seem content to do this without worrying too much if the Muslims they encounter are fundementalists or not, or if the local non-Muslims have any desire to be “defended” from “creeping Islamification”.

In the days leading up to Saturday’s demo, posters had been put up around Bristol reading:

“On the 14th of July the EDL want to march through our city to promote HATE. Let’s all give them a PROPER Bristol welcome. See you there my lovers.”

VICE photojournalist Henry Langston and I enjoy it very much when fascists and anti-fascists collide, so we jumped on a train to the West Country.

EDL divisions arrived on trains, coaches and in cars, and the police carried out their standard tactic of herding them into a car park before they set off on their march.

It took a while to corral the dispersed Islamophobes to the muster point. This gave the antifa who had been lurking around town an opportunity to get in some opening shots. The police tried to arrest a few guys for lobbing bottles at the EDL, but two of them escaped when their mates bundled in and saved them from a night in a cell.

This man had no such luck, though, and was subjected to a tea-bagging he’ll never forget.

When they were safely in the car park, some of the lads decided to spend the time engaging the locals and warning them of the dangers of Islamic fundamentalism:

We also bumped into Henry’s career advisor. Small world!

It was a surprise to see a member of the EDL advocate turning Norwich into a caliphate. If you look at this picture carefully, you can see that his message has been painted over another sign reading “FUN DAY →”. I hope this guy is happy at the thought of some kids getting lost on their way to the coconut shies just so that he can peddle his badly punctuated message of rage.

Still, his message was crystal clear compared to this guy’s:

He’s got a degree! A bloody degree!

As the march set off over a bridge, a small pink and black bloc turned up to jeer at the EDL from a nearby jetty. This is because the demo coincided with Bristol Pride, much to the chagrin of the Pride organisers.

Without wanting to lump a group as diverse as the Bristol LGBT community into a homogenous mass with a hive mind, the debate can be summed up thusly:

Bristol LGBT community: Hey, EDL, can you not ruin our day with your discrimination vibes, please?
EDL: But we’re pro-gays because we’re anti-Muslamics. Excluding us on account of our prejudice is prejudiced.
Gays: Well, we can see a certain irony there, sort of. But seriously, fuck off you racist pricks.

Anyway, let’s examine the EDL’s claim to have a gay-friendly agenda by watching one of their members call a bystander a “fucking arse bandit”:

Clearly this guy was not “on message”. But a transgender EDL member made a speech at their rally, so they can’t be homophobes. Just like how it’s impossible to be racist if you tip the guy who brings you your pizza.

As the march continued, Bristolians lined the river banks to hurl abuse at the EDL.

While I was hanging out with the antifa, Henry was on the other side of the river with the EDL. That’s him in front of the railings near the police tugboat. Here’s a snap I took of him whilst he was filming the video which follows. How’s that for 360 coverage?

I wonder what this fleet-footed antifa rascal had done to draw the attention of the policeman that you can see behind, giving chase.

I don’t think they caught him, whatever it was. I took this picture about 15 seconds after the previous one. Maybe he just wanted to kiss him?

Eventually, the EDL reached a square for the rally where they gave incoherent speeches about paedoMuslims and suchlike. Apparently non-Muslim paedos don’t warrant a mention.

With the rally out of the way, they were marched back to the car park. By this point they were tired and grumpy, so they unsuccessfully tried to break out of their cage. To be fair, I’d get a bit pissed off too if my half-formed political beliefs forced me to spend half my life touring the nation’s car parks.

Before those who had travelled to Bristol on coaches were driven home, there was time for a quick stone throwing contest with the locals. I think it was a draw.

That just left the non-coach bound EDL, who still needed to get back to the station. The antifa formed a line, planning to immobilise them by wrapping them up in a big green ribbon. Possibly in order to give them a lecture on diversity, possibly to smash their faces in, IDK.

Anyway, here’s how that went:

The police waded in to separate the two sides. Everyone started tussling over the banner in the most balls-to-the-wall game of tug of war I had ever seen.

The people on the far left and the far right of this photo came joint first in the “who can look most nonchalant in a riot” competition…

…a contest in which this guy got the wooden spoon.

The two cops at the right of this picture seem to be smiling. I guess these situations must be pretty fun if your armour renders your opposition harmless.

The angry words of the antifa probably hurt the fuzz’s feelings, but words are no match for batons, so they were slowly pushed back.

Every so often, an anti-fascist would stack it and have to be helped up by his comrades to avoid being trampled into a bloody pulp under the boots of the cops.

But the antifa had more than just vitriol up their sleeves, setting up a tactical wall of stench to repel the cops.

Someone shouted: “To the barricades!” and the antifa pegged it.

They regrouped behind their now flaming wheelie bin fortress like an army of vagabond serfs defending a castle made of shit.

Unfortunately, the cops quickly bypassed it and now had momentum on their side. The thin, blue line parted like the red sea to allow some pigs on horses to gallop through. After the cavalry had charged, the foot-soldiers formed a line again and followed up. It was a tactic they used several times and it worked. You can see what it looked like in the following video. Think the footage is a little shaky? Well, you try filming whilst running away from a line of angry riot cops screaming “MOO” at you, smart-arse.

By this point, the gloves were well and truly off. I mean that metaphorically – obviously the police wear thick gloves to that they can punch people in the back of the head without making their knuckles bleed.

Speaking of blood, bleeding from the head is usually a bad thing, right?

This guy told us what happened: “As the police line advanced someone fell over right in front of me and the police were beating her. She couldn’t get up. As I grabbed the policeman’s truncheon to stop him from beating her, another cop hit me in the head repeatedly, like two or three times.”

The cops had bludgeoned their way to victory, leaving the antifa to throw the occasional bottle at them before melting away into the side streets.

With the roads cleared of all but a group of antifa with a rasta flag and a soundsystem, the police were free to escort the EDL back to the station. Saying stupid things is kinda their modus operandi, so they chanted things like “We go where we like,” whilst being in a moving kettle.

With that, the EDL completed another exercise in utter futility with a poor turn-out. The police have become so adept at keeping them the fuck away from the people of towns that they visit that their rallies tend to preach to an audience of the converted and the cops. Officially, they’re claiming the antifa disorder as some kind of propaganda coup. But they were shouting that the antifa were “pussies” as they were marched back to the station, so positioning themselves as peace lovers is a bit rich.

Of course, the anti-fascists are also claiming victoryand so are the police. Who’s right depends on your perspective – tactically speaking, I’d probably have to hand it to the police on a technical knock-out. Last year Bristol was well ahead of the summer’s rioting curve. I wonder if Bristol is some kind of riot bellwether. If so, we’ll soon be warming ourselves by fires in the streets countrywide, before they get extinguished by another torrential downpour.

Here is a re-post from lib.com – Great news for those who gave up thier free time to push for a bit of fair play (the idea that you get paid for the work you do). Solent Solfed have been involved in the struggle against H&B with a little help from Portsmouth Anarchists along the way. Well done to all those those involved!

Holland & Barrett picket

Campaigners are claiming a major scalp in the fight against workfare after retailer Holland & Barrett announced they were pulling out of the scheme.

On hearing the news, Brighton Solidarity Federation tweeted “we’ve won an important battle against workfare, but the war is far from over.” The announcement came just 24 hours before a planned national week of action against workfare organised by the Boycott Workfare Network. Holland & Barrett had strongly backed workfare, announcing that they were committed to taking 1,000 people on unpaid work schemes this year alone (out of a workforce of just 3,500).

However, since their April announcement at a workfare conference organised by Department for Work and Pensions Minister Chris Grayling, escalating protests have singled-out the firm with regular pickets across the UK turning away shoppers shocked at the firm’s involvement in the scheme. Outraged customers have also been bombarding H&B’s Twitter and Facebook accounts with complaints. The sustained pressure has forced a u-turn, with Holland & Barrett’s official facebook page announcing late last night that: “the 60 people currently undertaking the work experience scheme will be the last to complete the eight week placement. After this time Holland & Barrett will not participate further in that scheme.”

Holland & Barrett intend to replace unpaid work placements from the Job Center with a salaried apprentice scheme. The Solidarity Federation will keep a close eye on Holland & Barrett and meet any backsliding with renewed direct action, but for now we are celebrating a victory against unpaid work. As a revolutionary union initiative made up of workers and claimants, the Solidarity Federation sees workfare as an attack on all workers by undermining pay and conditions. For example, staff at Holland & Barrett told us that overtime was no longer available in some stores as it was being done by unpaid workfare labour instead.

We will now support the national week of action called by the Boycott Workfare Network against remaining workfare firms before meeting to discuss the next steps.

Mental Old Fascist In Fareham!!

So here’s a first – a repost from Portsmouth News about an insane old nazi woman living in Fareham, who’d have thought it eh?!! –  Not that I’m opposed to giving the people in power abuse, but it just comes across as fucking stupid when you aim your frustrations at the most vunerable in society. It’s also pretty cowardly/dumb to harass people by letter/phone/internet as you will usually get caught – just ask our local EDL mugs, who’ve been there & got the t-shirt!  Speaking of who’m – our man on the inside, Captain Porkchop II, reports that some of our brave local ‘patriots’ (read nationalist extremists) appear to have had their computers, phones, and pretend guns seized by the filth. Nice one lads!

Fareham Grans ‘Poisonous’ Campaign of Hate

ASBO Margaret WalkerASBO Margaret Walker

Published on Saturday 30 June 2012 10:00

Grandmother Margaret Walker has been given an Asbo after sending hundreds of racist leaflets to people.

The 73-year-old, who is disabled and walks with a stick, sent the vile abuse anonymously to politicians across the country.

Other targets over the past five years included social services, pubs, a retirement company and Marks & Spencer in Commercial Road.

The pensioner admitted sending the racist letters when she appeared at Fareham Magistrates’ Court.

In one of Walker’s leaflets she raged against people of Jewish and Islamic faiths and praised the ‘brave dogged work’ of the leader of the far-right British National Party, Nick Griffin and his ‘wonderful dedicated team’.

She also hit out at the Prime Minister David Cameron, the media and the police. She was given a month-long interim Asbo and is due back in court next month when magistrates will consider making a full order, which would last for at least two years.

The case was adjourned to give Walker, of Walnut Drive, Fareham, time to seek legal advice.

The leader of Fareham Borough Council Cllr Sean Woodward said: ‘I’ve been on the receiving end of this as have many councillors I know.

‘As a politician you get hardened to some of the stuff you get sent but having been a councillor for 26 years that’s the worst I have seen.

‘It’s been a very poisonous campaign that the woman has been running for quite some time.’

The BNP is backing Walker and has criticised the case as a restriction of her freedom of speech.

But Portsmouth City Council leader Cllr Gerald Vernon-Jackson said: ‘Freedom of speech is very important but so is giving people respect and being truthful.’

Acting Fareham and Gosport District Chief Inspector Dave Ockelford explained: ‘This is in no way an attempt to stop Mrs Walker from expressing her views; this action is being taken to ensure that communication methods used by her are lawful and appropriate.

‘Despite a number of requests from police to stop sending the anonymous letters, Mrs Walker has continued. An anti-social behaviour order was applied for to protect the public from further upset.’

The Asbo bans her from posting or delivering anything that contains words or pictures that are foul and abusive or likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

She is also banned from sending anything in the post unless her name, signature and return address are clearly marked.

BNP leader Mr Griffin said: ‘They’re bullying a disabled 73-year-old lady for writing a letter about something she feels strongly about.’

What the News failed to print is that the grifster went on to say “I’m a fat old loser with no friends, you lot are all gonna pay, as soon as i return to my home home planet I’ll make you all pay!” – Keep taking the tablets eh Nick!!

Big Fat Liars & Little Hitlers

This picture is doing the rounds on facebook – just goes to show the desperation of the far right – truth is just not something they can rely on anymore…

A picture by someone who don’t much like people living in peace!

“I did without question” – says it all really! As reported originally by the lentil eating lefty there is no proof the picture originated locally. Luckily Someone at ‘Love Albert Road’ actually did their homework and created a more accurate picture…

A more accurate picture

The fascists must be so fucking desperate to try and stir up racial tension where there isn’t any they will say anything…just one bit of advice lads – when you get caught lying, you look stupid! Do’h!!

Hitler found hiding in Chichester

Reports that Hitler has been found alive and well in Chichester are also untrue. Police did however carry out a dawn raid on an address in the city just beyond our county border.  Here’s a cut from an article on LiverAF about it:

Police arrested four people suspected of running an international far-right extremist website after early morning raids on 24 addresses in 11 of Germany’s 16 states – and one in Britain – on Thursday.

Federal police confiscated several computers and external hard-drives as well as handwritten documents from people believed to be thought to be connected to the Thaizi website – a platform used by rightwing extremists to contact each other and, most notably, share racist music.

Although the majority of the raids were conducted in Germany, one address was also raided in the UK.

Andreas Gärtner, Rostock state prosecutor told The Local, “It was an address in West Sussex in a town called Chichester. No arrests were made. We are still waiting for a report from our colleagues in the British police.”

The BKA said that 26 people between the ages of 22 and 64 are now under investigation. They are suspected of putting the lyrics of more than 2,400 songs on the website as well as 1,400 downloadable files containing songs inciting racial hatred and violence.

Holocaust denial and the promotion of a Nazi government were also common themes on the Thiazi site.

So it  looks like the nazi’s are creeping around their keyboards rather than the streets which is always good, but just for fun – here’s a picture of  what happened to mussolini last time he left the house!
